about

Ryleigh Jones is a ceramic artist making work in Austin, TX.

Ryleigh is inspired by the vastness of Texas, femininity, and the power of magic and emotion. Often incorporating sculptural elements to blur the line between art and functionality. Exploring themes of childlike wonder and the intricate environments that define us, both physically and emotionally. Each piece aims to serve as a portal to a world where magic exists in the mundane.

Throughout college, Ryleigh volunteered and worked in her local arts community. She held the Historian officer position in the Ceramic Arts Students Association at Texas State University. She has also been a volunteer coordinator for the Texas Clay Festival for the last 2 years, assisting in getting college students to participate and get to know Texas clay artists.

After graduating with her BFA in 2024, Ryleigh continued immersing herself in the ceramic arts community. She has participated in markets, studio tours, and local art education. She is now on the Art04 Studio Tour Board as a coordinator and teaches private lessons and 8-week courses at Cafe Monet Art and Clay Studio in Austin, TX.

"To me, pottery and ceramic art is fun because it was made to be touched, used, felt, and held. I was primarily a 2-D artist until college, and discovering ceramics shifted my entire perspective on art and what it means. I feel so much more connected to my work when others get to hold and experience it tactilely. There is something about physically touching an object that gives it energy and power, turning it from an object to an eventual relic. That's the magic, that's what I love."
